01 / A different kind of garden center

We’re a locally owned nursery, grower, landscape designer, and outdoor living contractor. We help West Texans choose what will thrive here—and make space for it to grow.
See how we can help02 / Our story

La Casa Verde Nursery is widely celebrated as a Permian Basin staple and a beloved, locally owned garden center for over 50 years. However, few people know that this family-owned destination actually traces its roots back to the mid-1970s. It all began on a small country lot just outside of town, where Frank Farrow and Larry Shroyer first started selling trees and shrubs.
The humble lot quickly blossomed into Midland’s favorite neighborhood nursery thanks to Trudy and Glen New, who took over the business in the early 1980s alongside their children, Tara and Pat, and spouses, Rick and Mark. When the News eventually retired, they passed the torch to Jeremy and Kay Lynn West. Today, alongside Jan Otho, the Wests are proudly steering La Casa Verde into the future while staying fiercely true to the founding principles that built it. (Though if you ask local regulars, the nursery is still actually managed by Biscuit the Cat.)
With over 100 years of combined horticultural expertise, the LCV team remains the go-to resource for gardening in the notoriously challenging climate of West Texas and the Permian Basin.
